What a wild ride we are on right now! There is so much impacting our country, our families, our colleagues, and our own selves. For those of you who are “control enthusiasts” like me, it can be frustrating to not have impact everywhere you want to. At the beginning of the year, I set my intention word as “grace.” A dear friend who is a great cheerleader of mine sent me a bracelet that I wear everyday with this word. It reminds me to:
- Allow myself grace to be the best of me, not the perfect me–that it’s not about trying to be the perfect parent, spouse, colleague or friend or keeping a spotless household. It means making sure my kids are happy, fed, and in clean clothes (even if they don’t match). If I’m feeling ambitious, they might even read a book or do a worksheet. (Who else appreciates their kids’ teachers even more now!?) It also means that I’m helping out my colleagues in ways that we can continue to be successful personally and professionally.
- Give those around me grace–the happenings of the world today are impacting each of us differently and we all handle it in the best way we know how. Some of us have kids around us 24/7 when we’re used to being on the road. Others are being forced to make difficult career decisions. That in itself is an adjustment. We don’t always know what is happening on the other side of the video call and it helps to remember we are all trying to be our best selves throughout all the uncertainty.
The CEMA community is one that represents grace every day. This is a community that learns together. Survives together. And champions one another. As Kim mentioned last month, the Board made the tough, but realistic decision to move CEMA Summit to a digital experience. This announcement has been met with so much optimism. So many members have reached out to the Content Task Force to volunteer their time and experience to help CEMA make this a successful transition. It’s what makes me proud to be part of this community.
So, as you continue to figure out what life looks like for you now, remember to have grace every day, even if just for a moment. I look forward to “seeing” all of you next month at the CEMA Summit Digital Experience and look forward to the next time we can see each other in person.
Wishing you and your family’s peace and health,
Diana

Know your audience, understand what you want them to take away from the experience and consider your marketing and business objectives before you make any decisions on how the experience will come to life.”

The transformation has led her to write eleven books, including Successful Women Think Differently, and What’s Really Holding You Back? Success Magazine named her book, Why Not You? one of the “Top 25 Must-Read Success Books.” Her book Happy Women Live Better: 13 Ways to Trigger Your Happiness Every Day helps women make intentional choices right now to increase their happiness on a daily basis. Her books have been translated into seven foreign languages.
Valorie has appeared numerous times on the TODAY Show, Dr. Oz, CNN, HLN and hundreds of other radio and television shows. She has also co-hosted two national television programs, The Potter’s Touch with T.D. Jakes and Aspiring Women, which won two regional Emmy nominations.
